ReceptionHQ's MyAssistant service offers just a 7-day free trial. After your trial is done, you’ll pay $95 dollars before they even answer one call. Smith.ai gives you a 14-day free trial and afterwards, our plans start at $210/month (30 calls included), and there are no setup fees. Also with Smith.ai, text messages and transfers are free, and we don’t charge for spam or sales calls.
Smith.ai’s receptionists are also backed up with technology allowing them to act like an in-house receptionists, scheduling appointments, doing client intake, taking payments, and even offering outbound calls at the same price. And all of our services are charged at a flat-fee, so you won’t be surprised by any extra charges at the end of the month. ReceptionHQ's MyAssistant service doesn't provide outbound calling and they don't accept payments on your behalf. And with ReceptionHQ you may find your bill stacked with miscellaneous charges that aren't included in the base price, like taxes, fees for call transfers and text message notifications, and usage charges for unwanted calls. These additional costs are confusing and can result in a much higher monthly price than originally projected.
No confusing fees. Smith.ai offers the same high-quality services and features for every plan.
We filter out all wrong numbers, spam, and sales calls so you only pay for real conversations.
Our receptionists work like an in-house receptionist. Have them make calls to follow up on web-form fills, collect payments, and more.
ReceptionHQ currently offers different services depending on the features you require, but MyAssistant comes closest to offering a similar service to Smith.ai. ReceptionHQ MyAssistant has a 7-day trial period, and after that you’ll pay at least $95 (monthly price plus setup) PLUS the cost of your calls, charged per second at $1.85/minute. Assuming an average of 4 minutes a call (which is reasonable when you remove spam and sales calls), your starting price will be $321 for the same 30 calls that cost you $210 with Smith.ai. As their plans scale, ReceptionHQ tells you you’ll get around 40 calls for $179, but they’re assuming 1-3 minute average call time. Calls under 1 minute are likely to be spam, wrong numbers, and sales calls you receive (which Smith.ai won’t charge you for — ever).
Add on $0.50 for every call transfer and $0.10 for each text message (what is this, 2004?) and you will find yourself with hidden fees and surprising add-on charges that increase your overall monthly price.
Smith.ai offers several features that aren’t covered in ReceptionHQ’s MyAssistant service, including outbound calls, integrations with major scheduling and billing software, messages sent to Slack, after-hours voicemail transcripts, text and email follow-ups to callers, and free call routing. Furthermore, ReceptionHQ claims to include “CRM and workflow integration” but we didn’t see any details about which CRMs they integrate with and how the integrations work. At Smith.ai, we’ll explain how all our integrations work, your first integration is free, and we'll even help you set it up! Plus, we encourage you to submit new CRMs for consideration.
With a lower starting cost and higher-quality answering services, not to mention free call routing and text message notifications, Smith.ai offers a better value for your business than ReceptionHQ’s MyAssistant. But you don’t have to take our word for it: Try our 14-day/20-call free trial and see if Smith.ai is right for you!
