How to Forward Calls from Grasshopper to Smith.ai

Grasshopper customers will need to set up call forwarding to Smith.ai in order for our receptionists to answer your calls.

As soon as you're signed up for Smith.ai and have completed the onboarding process, follow the directions below to change the settings in your Grasshopper account to ensure your calls are being forwarded correctly. 

How to forward calls from Grasshopper to Smith.ai

There are two sets of instructions for forwarding calls from Grasshopper, depending on when you created your account:

If you signed up for Grasshopper after June 2011:

  1. Log in to your Grasshopper account.
  2. Click on "Extensions."



  3. Choose the extension for which you'll be adding a call forwarding number.
  4. Click "Add a forwarding number."



  5. Enter your Smith.ai number as the "forwarding number," select "Calls will connect to you as soon as you pick up," enter "Smith.ai" in the Description, and set the call-forwarding hours.



  6. Click "Add this number."

If you signed up for Grasshopper before June 2011:

  1. Log in to your Grasshopper account.
  2. Click on "Settings," and then "Extensions.



  3. Choose the extension for which you'll be adding a call forwarding number.
  4. Click "Call Forwarding" in the sidebar, and turn on call forwarding.



  5. Click "Add number."
  6. Enter your Smith.ai number as the "forwarding number," select "Calls will connect to you as soon as you pick up," enter "Smith.ai" in the Description, and set the call-forwarding hours.
  7. Click "Add number."
